In School Panels

ž
ž The Just BU In School programs includes a panel of 3 guests from different backgrounds who share their personal story, with focus on school based issues such as bullying, depression, individuality and for many not knowing the direction they wished to take after leaving school. The Panels are held at indivisual schools for 1.5 hours. The In School Panels are aimed at Year 9-12 students and engage approx 100- 250 students at each session. They can also be tailored to suit the individual needs of the school student body eg as part of a Career Day.
ž
ž The panels are relaxed, chatty and open to student questions and input

“Mother & Daughter or Your Favourite Aunty”

“Father & Son or Your Best Mate”

The Just BU “Mother & Daughter or Your Favourite Aunty” and “Father & Son or Your Best Mate” Programs act as a catalyst for further discussion, aiming to bridge the communication gap between the 2 generations through understanding and empathy between the teenagers and their parents.

Just BU is aware of many issues that face many teenagers of today. Both programs aim to address issues such as the disconnect between teenagers and their parents and issues faced by both by providing realistic role models who have experienced some of these problems themselves.

These Just BU Programs provide teenagers with self esteem by encouraging them to look positively at their future, to take on a sense of belonging and ownership of their own destiny and to embrace the future with tools and skills that equip them for the realities of life whilst at school and after school.

Unlike other programs which focus on one particular topic the general format for the Just BU panels are casual and along the lines of chatting with your friends over coffee.

It’s about being natural and sharing natural conversations as opposed to being “lectured at ” or feeling isolated or separate from each other.

Here, teenagers, parents and panellists can interact with each other in a very personal, relaxed atmosphere with all feeling inspired as they share stories, experiences and hope.

Up to 3 panellist currently working within the wider business, corporate, entertainment and sporting communities will share their relationships with their own parents, how being a parent has changed them, their experiences at school as well as providing advice for coping with the stress of growing up as a teenager and dealing with being a parent within the  “IT generation.”

Panellists share their own personal stories in relation to school based and parenting experiences under the philosophy that “It’s OK 2 Just BU.”

We are very excited to offer our  “extention”programs for  which include –

Individual level presentation – this 45 minute presentation gives a general overview on  issues such as understanding your own beliefs and core values and how these impact on your decisions, building self-belief and positive self-image.

  • Interactive workshop – similar to the above presentation, this 1.5 hour workshop uses current, topical and age appropriate videos and interactive activities and discussions (some theories and activities from The Dove Body Think and YMCA Y’s Girls programs are incorporated) aimed at developing positive self-belief through realistic and attainable goal setting. The workshop will also look into outside influences such as family, peers, and the media and the roles that they play.
  • Extensive workshops – a 4 x 1 hour a week program which expands on many of the issues and challenges that teenagers face. This program will provide strategies and tools that can be used during the program and ongoing.
